Why Triplethreat? 'Cause I'm a MOM (first), a certified life coach, & Independent It Works! Distributor (yes, a lover & promoter of that one-of-a-kind "Crazy Wrap Thing" that really works!) and I'm on my path to becoming healthy, wealthy & wise. So I made this place to share a little food for the BODY, MIND & SOUL from one mom to another. Maybe we can do this together, whatever that "IT" is for you , I hope to help you find "IT".

I'll be more GRATEFUL...
As I lay in bed, with a big jug of cucumber/strawberry water (yum) and a big glass of my green drink on the nightstand, watching cartoons with my sick son (and my not yet sick daughter propped between a her sick brother and sick mom) after being up sick with him all night, I'm surprisingly reminded to be grateful.
First of all, I am SO Grateful that I found supplements I love when I did. Because when it all started last night at 3 am with my son, I immediately took 2 extra vitamins and made it through the night, sick yes, but managed to avoid the lovely throwing up part! WooHoo!
And now I sit here, drinking green drink and feeding it to both the kids too...to get one back on his feet, and to the other to avoid the rath of being in bed between the two of us. I can't imagine not having found greens. What would I have done?
Anytime I start feeling something coming, or the kids start first and I get that dreaded feeling of "OH NO...here we GO! I'm reminded why I need to take the greens, why I love them and I up the stakes! A little extra greens is any sick moms BEST FRIEND! How many exclamation marks can I put there!!! They are always what get me through the sick days. I give full credit to being "throw-up free" to my greens! If i ever feel nauseous, out come the greens.
Anyone who has been sick and taking care of a sick family can relate, and I want EVERYONE to know this secret, because it is the absolute worst thing in the world to be sick and try to function enough to take care of a sick family too. It's actually kind of amazing, that maternal instinct that kicks into high gear when you know you have to gear up to take care of everything. But it sure kicks your "butt" after! I know at least the greens are helping my body while i get through it, and give me the energy to "get the job done".
Secondly, WOW, am I ever glad I work from home! As I tucked my son in with his favorite toy, stuffed animal and "blankie" into "mommies" bed with his strawberry water (with a little ginger ale and hidden greens) and told him he got to get lots rest, cuddle and watch cartoons ALL day with all his favorite things, and drink "special pop" all day "because thats what we get to do when we are sick". I got a little smile inside, sick or not, that I get to do this. There is a really indescribable feeling that comes from taking care of someone you love and know you make a difference to that little someone special, and knowing that being home with them, although hard sometimes, is worth being thankful for.
And even though I knew today was the last day of the $99 special, and there was no getting out of "work", I was grateful that i could grab my laptop (ipad actually, with my favorite new gadget, the ZAGG keyboard, thanks to my husband for a well thought Valentines gift) and crawl back into bed with the kids.
It is very easy to forget to be grateful. Yesterday as I was grumbling about who knows what...the kids into everything, stealing snacks and getting into trouble behind my back, one instigating the other while i tryed to get a little work done was infuriating me, and i felt somewhat a failure to productive society as I watched my house fall apart around me and seeming to get absolutely nothing done that I wanted to, I was sure feeling sorry for myself and trying to keep remind myself that I still love my life. I think it's pretty easy to forget that "grateful" thing sometimes!
So I guess waking up sick, with a sick kid at 3am is a pretty good reminder.
Funny how we always seem to get the message we need. I feel like singing that Rolling Stones song..."You can't always get what you want, but you get what you need". I guess I needed to get my butt kicked so I'd stop griping and be grateful for what I have! Opps! I get it, THANKS.
I hope that by sharing today, that you can be reminded to be grateful for something!
Now I've got a sick son, with his head on my lap watching cartoons, to take care of...
Thank you for sharing with me today!

Wondering if "IT" is for you?
Are you wondering? And you need a few questions answered?
You’re ready to try something different, to go for something more than what you have right now, for something new, you’re stepping it up a notch, or you’re thinking about a plan B...but you still have the case of the “Yeah...buts...” for some reason.
Well, you have TODAY to find out the answers to some of the questions in your head, so that you can still take advantage of this $99 opportunity, because it’s time to make the decision. So let’s clear up some questions for you right NOW...
What are you afraid of?
Are you afraid it won’t work out?
What IF you fail? Ok, lets’ say you do. So WHAT! Really?! You spent $99 and got 8 wraps which are worth $240 retail. What was the last thing you spent $100 on? And now, you get to say “At least I tryed”! Good for you, because most people don’t, they just sit and point out what everyone else is doing wrong, instead of trying something right! Do you want to be able to say, "I gave it a try"? Yes! You know what’s worth $99? Being able to say “At least I tryed”. If that's the only thing you risk, then it's time to start thinking about what you have to gain from this instead.
Are you afraid of what someone else might think? So WHAT!
What IF, instead... someone else thought you were amazing for going for IT!? OR What IF ...just maybe you inspired someone else to step outside the box?
Are you afraid it’s too good to be true?
Um, well I’d rather be part of something to good to be true!
Are you afraid it’s a pyramid scheme?
Where do you work? Is there a CEO at the top making the most money? Aren’t you part of a pyramid?
Are you afraid it’s a scam?
A company that has been in business 10years, is debt free and promotes health & wellness, fun, friendships and freedom only gets to where it is through honesty and perserverance, one person at a time, it would not be able sustain it’s success otherwise. It has the security of 10 years in the US, but it is still so new in Canada (only 2 years) that there is huge opportunity for growth all over the world where it is brand new!
So now what are you afraid of? Nothing! And truthfully, what are you really risking? Nothing.
So what COULD you gain? A better body image? Sure! A chance at change? Sure! A chance at something better? Sure! A chance at meeting new friends? Yes. A chance at making yourself better? Yes. A chance at growing your dreams? Yes. Have I made my point yet?
You have opportunity. And it's $99. What was the last thing you spent $99 on? Because I spent $199, not $99 on this opportunity, and I would not have paid a dollar less for what "IT" has done for me.
WHY do I do this?
After my daughter was born, I tried this crazy “wrap” that was supposed to show results in 45 minutes. Yeah right, I thought. But If they did work, then I knew I wanted to be a distributor and not just a customer, so before even trying a wrap, I signed up. Thinking WHAT IF they worked? WOW! I want to be a part of this! Was I reluctant? Yes, I had all the same questions in my head. ..Well...2 1/2 inches later and I’m look where I am today...a year and a half later and here is what “IT” did for me..
"IT" gave me something for me when I was "just a mom, made me feel like a contributing member of my home, and of society again. “IT” gave me extra income to contribute and gave us that extra breathing room to relax and to enjoy a few luxuries. "IT" gave me the push I needed to get out and meet new people, when I was swallowed up by my house and kids, busy being a mom and a housewife. "IT" gave me self-confidence when I was forced to “get over myself”, to face my fears to make my business a success."IT" brought new friends into my life that had dreams just like mine, that understood me, that connected to me with common interests, common goals. "IT" gave me pride in my accomplishments, no matter how small. "IT" gave me the realization that I have to be the one to "give myself a pat on the back" once and awhile. Now ask me if my $199 was worth it. What do you think?
Is a $99 investment in YOURSELF worth it? I think so.

Dinner TONIGHT...
So, just made the yummiest Creamy Parmesan Vegetable Quinoa and Baked Guacamole Cod and I guess the consensus after posting that on facebook is that I needed to share them...LOL
So here they are:
The QUINOA:
I just threw it together and I didn't use measurements... I stole a recipe from allrecipes.com and just sort of used what I had in the fridge...
Prepare the Quinoa as recommended, using vegetable broth in place of water (I just added a tablespoon of Epicure Vegetable Boullion to the water) and when it is almost done, add some frozen peas, cover and leave on minimum.
In a separate pan, saute onion in a little butter and when the onion is soft, add to the Quinoa.
This recipe actually calls to sauté celery with the onions, which I imagine would taste super! But like I said...improvizing... The recipe also calls for wine baked diced tomato as well... I will SO be trying that next time! (To do that, toss diced tomatoes in a little white wine and bake on a lightly oiled baking sheet at 400 for 15 minutes.)
Then add about ¼ cup milk, and 2/3 cup fresh shredded parmesan cheese, to the mizture and warm through to melt cheese. It was very basic and easy, but really tasty side dish, and I usually always have these ingredients on hand so it's perfect quick recipe. I can’t wait to try it with the wine-baked tomato and sautéed celery!
The COD:
Preheat oven to 400.
Melt about 3 tbsp-1/3 cup butter.
Warm a frying pan on the stovetop brushing a little butter into the pan, and add cod to hot pan but then remove from heat. You just want to sear it a little and not cook it too much or it will overcook. (I have seared both sides previously it probably helps keep the moisture in, but I am NO Chef so who knows...HAHA)
Brush the top of the cod with the rest of the melted butter and sprinkle Epicure Guacamole Dip Mix over the top.
Put entire pan into oven and bake for about 10-12 minutes depending on how thawed the cod is...‘til Cod is cooked through, but not overcooked. I leave mine a little on the frosty side when I make it to keep it more moist.
This was a super flavourful, healthy and SIMPLE supper!
This recipe is on the website www.epicureselections.com . If you need a hook-up I will see who of my friends are Epicure reps...
(The Guac mix has chilies, cilantro, coriander, cumin, garlic, onion, parsley, red bell pepper if you want to attempt your own flavors, but I love the Guac mix so just buy it and make your life easier!)
Jeff don't laugh at my bad culinary skills and lingo here...you could probably correct me on most of it! LOL!

Become your own HEALTH CARE ADVOCATE!
Today, my mom sent me an article from Dr. Oz. pointing out that we should all be asking for the NECK guard portion of the CHEST Guard that is used when we go for Dental Exams and Mammograms. That this important guard protects the Thyroid Gland, however practitioners only use the chest part of the guard and often do not use the neck guard portion that is detachable. I had actually seen this episode and getting the email this morning was a good reminder that our health care is really our own responsibility.
We have to remember that the current health care system has always been, and is more-so than ever, an chronic care institution. That it exsists pretty much only to perscribe (often just covering the problem, not dealing with it) and to fix something that is already broken! Lets not break it in the first place!
It is SO important for us to be not only our own advicators, but more so, it is important for us to take care of ourselves in the first place. To be responsible for taking care our ourselves FIRST, rather than getting FIXED later! More and more people are taking care of their health to AVOID disease care.
I feel like not a day goes by that I don't have a conversation with someone that revolves around health & wellness in some form. Either they are a practioner of disease-care or preventative care, or the conversation is around someone who is an advocate for one or the other, or a normal coffee talk conversation leads to someone who is sick, or a sharing of stories of maintaining our health.
I love that so many of these conversations are just about the good old basics, the old wives tales to drink your warm glass of milk before bed, a little tea and honey for a sore throat and maybe a little vitamin c or "good for you" supplementation rather than taking a "poision with a desirable side effect". (How many times do we laugh at drug advertising that concludes with the laundry list of side effects... yes, POISON with a desirable side effect!)
I think we are all starting to become more aware, more educated and we challenge something that just doesn't seem right. We know better than to believe everything we hear, or just "trust" someone has your best interest at heart. We are open to suggestions, and follow our intuition as to what is right for us, with guidance of caring therapists and choosing more and more, alternative & natural care to give back to our bodies!
I'm proud to say that I think that this generation is listening to their moms, taking care of themselves, advocating for better health and teaching it to our children. That we demand better food stuffs by supporting local markets and organic farming, and understand why supplementing is now so important. I think the pharmacitical companies should panic as we all educate ourselves a little better!
It is your life, and it is in your hands. Stay educated, stay in tune with your body and take care of you! You are your best care-giver! Support your preventative care practitioners and develop that old fashioned open and comfortable relationship with your good old family doctor! Let them get to know you and be comfortable to ask questions!
I'd love to share with one of my favorite natural nutritional supplements that helps to restore and maintain your body's natural balance, provides you with the nutritional value of your 8 servings of vegetables a day, and is a great start on a road of health!
And If you are standing up on your chair, giving the thumbs up to this article, then you need to share with me on my path to self-development and why I chose to get involved with a health and wellness home-based business!

Where is inpiration?
There are definately days that it seems hard to look around and find what moves us. This is when we need to remember that there is inspiration in life all around us, everyday. Things that give us joy, and things that make us remember how joyful we really are. It’s easy to miss, but it’s not hard to find if we look.
We have family that love us for who we truly are. Friends who support us when we are down. Acquaintances who are there to make this path of life interesting or a happy stranger that smiles and makes a day.
Life is full of events that give us joy, recognition that gives us a moment of pride and milestones that remind us how far we’ve come, and mistakes that remind us what we still need to learn.
It could be as simple as that morning coffee or that evening tea, that morning shower to refresh us or the evening bath to calm us. Maybe it is opening your eyes a window pane of frost, raindrops, or a bright ray of sun that warms your cheek. Or what about a fresh cut lawn or a freshly assembled snowman?
We fill our lives daily with exercise that our body thrives on, food that sustains us and fills our senses, and a laugh and a glass of wine that we share with a friend. We can always reach to that book on the shelf to fulfill our soul, teach us , help us to grow or entertain us, a photo album that reminds us where we’ve been, or a good movie that fills our imagination and make us chuckle.
We have moments of love, appreciation, a simple thank you, or a tear that cures us of our pain. Someone to kiss us good morning or good night, and a warm blanket to cuddle us when that kiss is far away from us.
And for me and all moms everywhere... our KIDS ...that are both test us and teach us.
Your life is full of inspiration everywhere. I hope today you feel joy and inspiration.
I find inspiration in sharing with others. To sharing what inspires me with others reminds me to appreciate my own simple joys and is fulfilling if I know that someone else feels good because of something I’ve said. Hence the blog...

Are you part of a Pyramid Scheme?
I was the first person to shut the door on Network Marketing, and turned my nose up at party based businesses! YUP, I was the biggest sceptic when I first enrolled in It Works! My how the tables have turned!
It turned out, I actually fell in love with the products (the WRAP was my first love!!!), and couldn't help but be a part of this. I wanted to share them! When you find something good you share it with everyone! So why not get paid for it!? Even Real Estate and Car dealerships, pay you for referrals right? But do you get paid if you recommend your favorite restaurant, or your favorite pair of shoes, chiroprator, nail technician or hair dresser?
Network Marketing can sound like such a bad word for something that we actually all do every day!! So why is it that only Network Marketing gets a bad rap? What about the Pyramid Sceme you work at?
EVERY organization is set up in a Pyramid shape, you work so someone at the top gets the big paycheque right? So you right now work for a pyramid company... one that tells you what to do, and when to do it, and how much of your life you are free to live OUTside your commitment there.
I LOVE It Works, because: FIRST: I LOVE the products, & SECOND: I LOVE this OPPORUNITY! I LOVE the opportunity to do run my business in MY own way, work MY OWN hours, take MY vacations whenever I WANT, to set my OWN paycheque, and IT fits into MY life, not scheduling MY life/my work hours around someone ELSEs idea of when I should work! My kids don't have to fight for my attention when I'm exhausted from working all day, I don't fight traffic to get to a job where I fight to get noticed, or fight with staff to get things done. I'm free.
Don't get me wrong... it's not for everyone. The truth is that self-motivation is equally hard to find when you hit a obstacle, but what I can share is that the fulfillment you get is far more worth it when your successes give back directly to yourself!
I get to feel passionate about something, and proud of something, and not just taking home a paycheque in exchange for alot of stress. My work fits into MY LIFE, not MY LIFE life around my work. It's just how it SHOULD be.
I wanted to share this today. Don't sell yourself short by missing opportunities becuase of what other people have led you to believe. Do what is right for you, and if that is It Works, then I'll be excited to share it with you!

Teaching KIDS to Eat Healthy...
Here I was, sitting with my kids after finishing supper and noticed on facebook that our very own DR. Don has been featured in the Grand Rapids Press in regards to his childrens book "Count to 10 and be Healthy". I of course have "MY" version of this, the version for US to read, and didn't think to much of it when the KIDS one came out, til tonight when it dawned on me. DUH! Its so simple we overlook it sometimes...but here I am trying to ensure I'm raising kids that eat healthy, teaching them that eating healthy is important, going as far as to be sneaking purees into their food, and NEVER even thought of sneaking it in to their bedtime story! Kids will believe anything from a book, but listen to mom? NO WAY! It took me about 5 minutes to order a copy. I can't believe I missed this one. HAHA!
I'll be excited when it gets here! I know I'll read it to my kids, and steal it away from them to take to parties to show other moms!
Thanks Dr. Don!

SPRING CLEANING
Today, friend shared with me a thought...that if you had a cup that was full, you have to empty it before you can refill it right? Makes sense! It was funny how much I was actually was thinking exact thing myself this week as I started spring cleaning.... So I had to share this!
Lately I have this incredible urge to start my spring cleaning. But it hit me...I feel like I am spring cleaning more than just my house...
Do you ever feel like you have too much “junk” ...like you have no “room to grow”? That you can’t get anything new because you have no more room left! And you wonder just what you are keeping this stuff for? You thought “ one day I might use this...But that day has NEVER come! In fact, it’s kind of tying you up. Yup! Sometimes we get to a point where we really realize that there are some things in our lives that we no longer need. It’s time to clean out stuff that you are holding onto that is no longer working for you!
So far I’m just talking about spring cleaning right? Not entirely...Let me explain...
I’m actually talking about the beliefs we carry with us.
For example, you have a couch right? But if you buy a new one, you have to get rid of the old one before you have space for the new one? Of course...
It’s the same with our beliefs. Time for some spring cleaning!
Think of something you want...What old belief are you keeping that is stopping you from getting it? Is that thought working for you anymore? Is it getting you what you want!? NO! So get rid of it! And make room for a new belief that DOES work for you!
If you are stuck, then something you believe is getting in the way of getting what you want, and you are stuck with an old belief that is no longer working for you.
Replacing a belief is like replacing the couch, you have to get rid o f the old one before you can get the new one. So make room for that new couch, make room for a new belief! You don’t have room for both the old belief and the new belief, if the old one’s not working for you anymore, then it’s time to let it go.
A good friend of mine always told me when I’m frustrated with something... to stop, and ask myself this set of questions...
1) What do you want?
2) What are you doing to get what you want?
3) How’s that working for you?
4) What can you do differently?
You may have to ask yourself these over and over until you literally and figuratively "GET IT"!
Right now, try to think of a belief that is getting in the way of you achieving something, doing something, getting something...I can’t, I won’t...learn to listen to this self-talk and recognize it, when it comes up, replace that though, that belief with the exact opposite. I can, I will... Sounds easy right. It IS. So there are no excuses!
Use the couch again in a different way... You want a new couch... but you don’t believe you can afford one, that you can’t make that extra money to get one. Is that belief going to get you a new couch? ABSOLUTELY NOT! So start saying the opposite to yourself. I CAN afford a new couch! I DESERVE a new couch. I WILL have a new couch. Get rid of the old belief that is stopping you and start shopping for what you want in life!! Put together your “want list” in life, and get rid of whatever worn-out, not working, old beliefs are stopping you from getting those things!
I challenge you to stop and listen to all your thoughts, and start replacing them with better ones!

Reaching for the JUICE...
Today I was sitting having lunch with my kids, while checking my facebook and my emails.
My son, wanting to sit with mom, crawled onto my knee and proceeded to eat my lunch instead of his, which I was happy to share (to which I’ve learned that sharing my meals is not actually a sacrifice of being a mom, but a great way to watch the waistline! It’s natures way of saying, you’re a big girl now... you don’t need as much!).
It was when he reached over my plate, the laptop, the phone, the” to do” lists and everything on the table, to grab his juice... which I, of course, envisioned spilling onto everything!!! It was as I started to hear myself say those words... “don’t reach over the table” that I stopped myself, as big lightbulb went on over my head...and just watched. Not only I had just watched my son get up and get exactly what he wanted, he wanted my attention and he just came over for it, but I was watching him as he set out to get his juice... and he would, no matter all the obstacles on the table between him and his juice. AHA, I thought...
It was more than just juice and plates to me, it was a representation of a goal and obstacles in the way of the goal.
And that’s when this hit me...Kids don’t care what’s in their way, they have no disbelief in themselves that they can’t get something that they want. They just go about figuring how to get it. They build a tower of toys and chairs to reach their favourite toy, they push a chair to the counter to get the treats from the top shelf, and they don’t stop until they figure out just how to get what they want. They don’t cry and babble that they can’t do it, well, maybe a little....but that is just to get you to do it for them! They are still getting what they want!
There is this complete lack of self-doubt that a child possesses! They do not believe yet that they are not capable of doing something, until of course we come along and tell them “NO”! How young we are when we start being trained “Not to”, or “Not Allowed to”.
Don’t get me wrong. We are not wild animals, we need to be taught limits, but “limits” meaning those that give us respect for others, compassion and care for our community of humans, but “limits” are not meant to limit our potential.
It was an amazing realization as I saw the human potential, in my son, that we have, to go for whatever it is we want. When did we, as adults, become any different than a child? Aren’t we supposed to become smarter and stronger? Yet we, as adults, give up...unlike a child, who still doesn’t accept that they can’t do something. Children have this amazing drive to get what they wan...and so do we...somewhere, it’s just to find it. We still can do whatever it is we want! We are smarter, bigger and stronger and more capable today, than we ever were, to reach for what we want.
Don’t let that obstacle path of plates, and bowls stop you from reaching for something to quench your thirst.

Are you a puree mom too?
I recently put up a recipe that calls for Sweet Potato Puree...
Are you a puree mom too?
It all started when I started making my own baby food. I loved making fresh foods and knowing exactly what was in my sons food. I found I ALWAYS had purees on hand anyway, so started using purees in my everyday cooking. I used lots of recipes and ideas from the first Jessica Seinfeld recipe book “Deceptively Delicious”. Although all my kids don’t eat baby food anymore, I STILL keep making purees and them on hand all the time. But now it’s just because I LOVE tricking my kids!!
I definitely bought the second book as soon as it came out, and am really starting to master the art of hiding veggies in meals. I feel excited again about making meals! If you’re like me... I just get so tired of making the same old meals and HATE that moment when you have to think of “what to make for supper” ugh... Adding purees makes me feel like I can be a little creative and just feel good that I am making each meal just that much healthier. It does actually put a little fun back in cooking. Not to mention how fun it is to win when the kids are eating veggies and don’t even know it! Score ONE for MOM!
But how do I have time?
I make a little extra veggies at a meal and puree them, or take a day once and awhile to do all my purees in a day OR if I have something about to go bad in my fridge I puree it all right away. This helps with the grocery bill! I find makes fewer trips to the store because I never throw away bad veggies, can buy in bulk and nothing gets wasted!
I freeze them in muffin tins, which is a perfect 1/2 cup size for almost every recipe/meal, then pop them into a freezer bag and have a big basket in the freezer full of bags of purees. This is so great because I always have a veggie (and frozen fruits too, puree or not) handy even if I have none fresh, and can add them to so many dishes!!
I usually have sweet potato, carrot, cauliflower, broccoli, banana, those which use the most, and spinach, beet, and butternut squash at all times. Plus chick peas or navy beans in a can to quick puree if I want to use. (I also freeze a few purees in mini muffin sizes, which is about a ¼ cup size OR you could try an ice cube tray, that way you can use 2 or 3 and have more variation to your recipes, and I use beets, spinach and banana especially because I throw one of each into smoothies in the morning if I don’t have fresh spinach or banana.... and yes...beets! Maybe I’ll blog about my smoothies tomorrow...)
They are all so easy, I buy fresh veggies and steam whole to get the most nutritional value, but I cheat with sweet potato...I just buy frozen organic peeled and cubed sweet potato at Costco and it's as simple as steaming them and throwing them in my Majic Bullet. Great for the Quinoa recipe I put up in the last blog.
Here are a few TIPS for using your purees in meals:
Some are tricks from the Jessica Seinfeld books. I do recommend her books. But now that I have mastered a few recipes myself I just toss purees into anything I can think of!
I put broccoli and carrot purees in my meatballs or meatloaf...they NEVER know!! Then I grind up all bran buds and use them mixed in or instead of breadcrumbs, so you’re getting veggies and fibre too! Adding bran/fibre to groundbeef helps to cut down on your body absorbing the fat! So you can still have a meatball once and awhile!
Then I throw carrot puree in all my tomato/or spaghetti sauces for any pasta! Sometimes with ricotta cheese too for added protein! Next I’m going to try it in tomato soup!
So my spaghetti and meatballs is full of carrots, broccoli fibre and added ricotta cheese without anyone knowing! I feel like an evil genius!
Carrot and Cauliflower are good way to get more veggies in my homemade chicken noodle soup, Cauliflower in awesome in mashed potatoes- gives it great flavour without adding sour cream! Plus in macaroni and cheese and even in scambled EGGS with a little cheese, and maybe some crumbled turkey bacon too! I bake my scrambled eggs in muffin tins for something different and they make a great homemade egg McMuffin to go, or egg Benedict knock-off if you only want half the English muffin!
Spinach is fun to make green eggs too! Or use fresh or puree broccoli in eggs with a little cheese and pour into tart shells for quiches, these actually freeze good and make good eat on the go breakie or snacks!
(I love cheddar cheese, but I use ¾ mozza and ¼ cheddar to cut down the fat.)
Banana is great to have on hand for banana bread (of course), toss into pancake or waffle mix, smoothies and oatmeal! But oatmeals a whole other blog, I love my oatmeal in the morning!
Beets make fun pink pancakes, add a little vanilla and cinnamon for a little flavour!
Applesauce is of couse another versatile “puree” I always have, but no, don't make it anymore. Great in pancakes, oatmeal, and did you know it is a great substitute for OIL in any of your favourite muffin and cake recipes!?
I hope my little tricks give you some cooking inspiration, I know we can all use a little trick or variation when it comes to the task of meal-making.

The QUINOA CRAZE...
Decided yesterday to jump on the QUINOA bandwagon. IT is SO good for you! 4 Grams of Fibre, 5 Grams of Protein and only 1 gram of Sugar!
I Figured I better give it a try! I told my mother-in-law I was going to test it out and let her know, and I FOUND an AMAZING recipe! I will for sure be sharing it with her, so want to share it with you too becuase it was such a yummy and easy breakfast!
I sort of threw it together, so no idea the actual measurements, but you get the idea!
I made a full 4 servings of quinoa(organic)as the package asked.
then MIXED together:
1/2 CUP (or more) milk
1 teaspoon pure vanilla
1 teaspoon cinnamon
4 tablespoons pure maple syrup
1/2 cup sweet potatoe puree
Add the Mixture to the Quinoa pot on the stovetop on minimum just to mix.
(I buy a bag of frozen organic peeled and cubed sweet potatoe at Costco and it's as simple as steaming them and throwing them in my Majic Bullet. Make up some for supper, and puree the leftovers for this breakfast!)
Then I put about 1/2 cup whole walnuts and 1/2 cup whole almonds (maybe more) into a Freezer bag and smashed them up with a mallet and tossed them into the pot as well, and mixed them in too!
Save a few for garnish if you like, but I garnished mine with just a sprinkle of brown sugar, (you could use raw cane sugar for crunch if you want) just to satisfy the kids eye! They like to see the sugar... They don't believe me if I say I already mixed it in!
(I always buy whole nuts by the bagfull Costco and we munch on them all the time! They are GREAT snacks! The whole family loves them! and I smash them up myself...I feel like its a fresher taste, and sometimes I like to smash something! LOL)
Try it! You'll love it!
I'm going to talk more about PUREES tommorrow! Are you a puree mom?

Mommy-Daughter Day
Well, yesterday decided to have a girls day with my daughter, while the "boys" (Dad and Son) took in the Sportsman show. My daughter and I spend the afternoon at a local Natural Health Fair geared for families. There was a wide variety of displays from holistic and natural health care to handmade crafts and other business moms! There was balloons for the kids, a playcentre for them to let off steam and prizes to be won! It was a great display of talented entreprenuers and I enjoyed a relaxing couple hours with my little girl. It also made me grateful to have my own at-home business and proud to consider myself a "like-minded" mom working for similar goals, the health and well-being of our families, not only physical health, but also stability in our family structure as we stive to have that valuable time with our loved ones. I was very proud of the community I live in and I look forward to meeting more like minded moms!

TIME FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT?
Did you know that—according to Albert Einstein anyway—the definition of insanity is “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”? Think about that and what it truly means: some people in your own life may, in fact, be “insane.”
Maybe it’s your brother-in-law, who’s been stuck in a dead-end desk job for the past several years. He gets a small raise every year, a measly bonus at Christmas, and has been promoted once. He hates his job, but he hangs on to the hope that, one day, he won’t have to live paycheck to paycheck. He’s waiting for a change. Yet, he shows up to work every day at 9:00 in the morning, does his job, and begins the process again the next day. The same thing, every day—when will the result be different? The real question here is: Will things ever be different?
Maybe it’s your best friend from college who shows qualities of an insane person. She’s a teacher and a mother of two. She’s great at her job, has won Teacher of the Year awards countless times, and her students absolutely adore her. She likes her job, but is frustrated by how little time she has to spend with her kids. She spends all day in the classroom, then spends nights and weekends grading papers. She’s also frustrated by the fact that, regardless of how hard she works and regardless of how much she is valued as a teacher, her income is capped. She’s in debt and living paycheck to paycheck. Just like your brother-in-law, she hangs on to the hope that, one day, something will change. Maybe one day she will have financial freedom, and time to spend with her children. But until that day comes, she’ll continue to spend her days in the same routine, over and over again.
Of course, it could be you…
Think back—what did you do last year? What have you done in the past three years? Five years? Ten years? If the thought of this makes you feel insane, then it may be time for a change!
