Today I woke up with a punched in the gut kind of feeling. The first thing I did was take my GREENS! 3 Scoops actually. I take them everytime my tummy feels upset. Whether it be a bit of a flu bug coming on, upset from that extra glass of wine the night before, or just so tired you feel punched in the stomach. At least thats how it feels for me when I'm tired or stressed. The first place it hits me is straight in the guts.
Anyway, started me thinking that I guess todays blog should be about stress. Being a mom of 2 very busy little ones, trying to run a home, pay the bills, make the meals, do the laundry, all while tripping over the toys and your brain running a hundred miles an hour about what you have to do next, the errands, tax season, the birthday parties and trying to keep track of it all about drive a person crazy. Its at these times that I realize I need to re-balance, oh yeah, but I don't feel balanced unless I'm organized...there's that other project creeping in to the back of your mind. Oh yeah, did I mention I run this little home business.
In the midst of the stress I have to remind myself to take care of my body, as well as my mind. (Important, but we excuse ourselves as parents by saying we are too busy, it's too hard...blah blah. What good will we be if we are too tires, sick or stressed. So yes! Taking care of me is FIRST on the list not LAST!) First thing that means for me is to take my Greens. The body condition under stress becomes highly acidic, the scale "tips" so to speak, and that ideal alkaline balance you need to maintain for optimal health changes. It doesn't take long for all those little bugs and bad bacteria to figure out they've got the edge! They love the acidic environment!
Stress opens the door for all kinds of things start to happening as the body's systems no longer are working together ideally. When your body is overwhelmed, things get left on the shelf "to do later", just like in your life...Your body works the same way, when it is overwhelmed, it uses all its energy just to keep you running and only the basics get done! The "less important" stuff gets left to do later...but when it comes to your body, nothing is "less important"... it needs all its functions! And "later" never comes as we are constantly in a state of stress! So many things start to happen...Immune system doesn't function as well, Digestion system suffers, Lymph system doesn't work as well to remove toxins from your body...
I know this is when I need my GREENS the most, to keep my body alkaline avoid further damage, to add in those digestive enzymes to settle my upset tummy, and give me the nutrient-energy I need to keep up to my daily routine and my hamster brain!
